FAQ - Puerto Rico Auto Transport

Frequent Questions

We have paired these frequently asked question to help guide you through the most common questions we see while placing bookings to and from the island of Puerto Rico. If you ever need anything answered call us with no obligation and we will gladly go over every step of the process.

What kind of carrier comes to get my vehicle inland?
We use commercial carriers only. No tow trucks, or anything that drags your vehicle. No U Hauls, etc.

How does my vehicle travel on the water?
Your vehicle is in a sealed container. Protected from the elements and salt the entire time.

What do you mean door to port or port to door?
Simply, in the island of Puerto Rico we do not have carriers that pick up vehicles and take them to the port. Since it’s such a small island anything coming in and out would be right at the port of San Juan.

It says “…powered by NX”. Who is that?
NX Automotive Transport runs and owns the Puerto Rico auto transport website. Five stars on Google, five stars on yelp, an “A” from Angie’s list. There is no doubt you have made it to the right place.

Can I pack things in the vehicle? It would be really helpful for my move.
Although we wish we could allow it, carriers are not licensed to carry household goods or any personal belongings. Additionally, due to the Department of Agriculture’s rules, vehicles must be empty. Learn more about that on our requirements page.

I keep getting different prices and I am told by others to “watch out” for hidden fees and bait and switch practices. What’s the real story? Am I going to be paying more or have my car held until I pay much more?

Although most of the time this is a scare tactic to get you to book with them, it is true that some companies hide imaginary fees when improperly estimating costs to ship. Especially when that eats up their expected commissions! Here, we have a price guarantee that tells you that even if fuel prices were to skyrocket or there was a change in the area pricing which would make your move much more expensive, we eat those costs no matter what. The price we give you is guaranteed and if we quoted it incorrectly or did not foresee the change coming by the time you were scheduled, then it’s our mistake. And yes, this is in our sales contract in writing.

What if I live in an association or a very narrow street where a large trailer with several cars can’t get in?
We will always meet you at the nearest safe spot convenient to you in those cases. Our service he’s always door to port or port to door unless physically impossible or not allowed by local regulations or association rules.

I have modifications to my vehicle. (Oversized tires, lowered or raised, wings, spoilers, etc.)
We just need to know about these. This helps us select the right carrier when moving your vehicle inland, and also make proper arrangements at the port for delivery. This should not affect price, unless your vehicle is higher than 7 feet tall.
